Striking!

The camera drew me to the lens, but now I can't seem to stop chasing the light in every shadow.

Filmmaking, for Busola Adeboyejo, has become less about capturing images and more about tracing the emotions, memories, and meaning held in whatever light they carry.

A 2024–2025 Fulbright Semi-Finalist and BFA Film/Cinematography major Alumni of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Busola also holds a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. Their cinematic foundation is rooted global contexts, from early training with the Africa International Film Festival (2015) to a Ford Foundation-sponsored fellowship in documentary and photography at Montana State University (2017). Since then, they’ve built a growing body of work across narrative, documentary, and music-driven formats.

Their portfolio includes award-winning shorts like FearLess and Splitting Image, as well as collaborative projects like Drum Major: The Beat Goes On, spotlighting the MLK family legacy in voter turnout. A 2024 Gotham EDU x Sidney Poitier Fellow and GLAAD Black Queer Creative Summit participant, Busola is deeply committed to telling stories that center Black, diasporan, and LGBTQ+ lives with both bold visual style and emotional depth.

Currently, they’re developing Gage’s Bucket List, a a raw, emotionally charged multi-medium project that explores life, loss, and queer resistance in a world that tries to erase what it cannot silence.

Busola also enjoys developing and collaborating on stories that center Diasporic Black, African, Queer/Trans survival and joy through piercingly honest cinematography.
